Tapestry

The tapestry of a fisherman’s life is woven
Year after year, season after season
The lines and web catching salmon and dreams
Hard work producing a mix of sweat and gurry
Smiles and satisfying soreness
The color of the thread varies
Mesh green interspersed with flashes of silver
And Ichor red
Wistfully, Ichor red
“The fluid that flows like blood in the veins of the gods”*
This fluid is spilt with reverence and regret
Appreciation and joy
A paradox of emotions
Reflecting the paradox of life
