An Ocean Of Emotion

An Ocean Of Emotion

Some say the sea is cruel
It can seem so
As angry white spittle covers its surface
The wind sweeping froth into the air
Other days it sparkles in merriment and mirth
Laughing in delight
Exuberant about the day
But in truth, the sea is indifferent
It rolls on, serene or stormy
And while its changes seem like changing moods
What we perceive is merely our own reflective sentiments
The emotion we see is the emotion we bring
The sea is indifferent, but not I
After a lifetime of seasons spent on its waters
I appreciate its vastness and immutable nature
When I am gone, the sea will remain
It will bear no mark
Nor evidence of my presence
As it should be
